Plus and Minus
The weakness and strengths of the design go as follows.
Positive strengths are
:
New Equipment for a decade of reliable service and support.
Plenty of expansion built in to accommodate growth.
Simple design lending its self to easy maintenance.
High quality equipment that will provide uninterrupted service.
Plenty of documentation for future maintenance.
Meets or exceeds all the requirements.
IDFs are kept to a minimum limiting latency.
Gigabit Fiber ensures reliable data free of RF, EMF, Etc.
Negative points are:
- The equipment chosen is new and very expensive.
- The overall design is a very high bandwidth LAN that would not be readily accepted by many schools.
- Much less expensive equipment can be installed that will meet the requirements short term.
- IDF hardware is expensive and can be made by the Schools carpenters for much less.
- Gigabit fiber can be replaced by much less expensive Fast Ethernet.
- More IDFs would allow for Cheap Fast Ethernet.
- Old equipment is tried and tested.
- Exceeds the requirements
